Love this Photo . . . for ArtStacks and Art Journal Journey Monthly!

Hi everyone!  Today I'm sharing a project that I made for the ArtStacks Artist Team.  I am up on their blog today!

I created a mixed media scrapbook page using their newest releases:
Their Doors & Windows 2 pack

and their Weathered Walls pack

Head over to www.artstacks.com/au for all of the details and to see each these beautiful packs in detail!

Here is my page using the ArtStacks new releases:

I decided to make a mixed media scrapbook page using a photo of my twin sister and me at CamelBeach in June of 2009.  Camel Beach's deck vibe is vintage, so I thought this would be the perfect photo for these packs.  I LOVED using the new releases as the background, page topper, photo frame, and short verse/quote.

I enjoyed making this project using Artstacks' new releases and hope that I have inspired you to create one, too!

I am also linking my page to Art Journal Journey Monthly's theme for May:

This month is co-hosted by Valerie at Baastelmania and Erika from BioArtGal.  Their theme for May is Poems
Valerie says "Don't be scared by the theme of poems.  It doesn't have to be anything special or super complicated.  You can choose a poem or short verse, or limerick or whatever poems you like.  You can compose your own or choose works from famous people.  The main thing is to have fun."
Erika says "I'm excited to be working with Valerie.  She said it perfectly.  Have fun and let's rock some poetry this month."

I used a quote/short verse by Joseph Campbell as my poem.  (This is also part of the Doors & Windows 2 pack!)

I hope you get a chance to check out all the entries from the talented artists that take part in this challenge every month.  And I want to thank Valerie, Erika, and Art Journal Journey for creating this fabulous and fun challenge.

And thank you so much for stopping by my blog today.   Enjoy the rest of May!

Wish Upon a Star . . . for Challenge YOUrself and Art Journal Journey Monthly!

Hi everyone.  It's May 7th and time for a new challenge at Challenge YOUrself!

Challenge YOUrself #125 opened today and closes on June 7th:

This month's challenge is about using fussy cutting on your page.  You can use as many or as few hand-cut images as you like, just remember to include a photo with YOU in the frame!

Here is the mixed media scrapbook page that I created for this challenge:

I decided to make my page about my family's Disney World trip in 2022.  I used Echo Park paper from my stash that is perfect for a Disney World theme.  I fussy cut many of my elements on this page, for instance the balloons, the heart, the bow tie, the "Say cheese" piece, etc.  I also used the lyrics from "When you Wish Upon a Star"  as the basis for my page.

I hope you get a chance to check out  Challenge YOUrself!

I am also linking my page to Art Journal Journey Monthly's theme for May:

Don't Wait For the Storm To Pass . . . for ArtStacks and Art Journal Journey Monthly!

Hi everyone!  Today I'm sharing a project that I made for the ArtStacks Artist Team.  I am up on their blog today!

I created a mixed media scrapbook page using their new release Tissue Backgrounds pack:

FYI:  each pack contains backgrounds designed for use in all forms of papercrafting and are printed on ArtStacks' amazing tissue. And, if you like to print at home, a digital version of this pack and a "Blank Tissue" pack are available!  Head over to www.artstacks.com/au for all of the details!

Here is my page using four ArtStacks packs including their newest Tissue Backgrounds pack:

I decided to make a mixed media scrapbook page using a photo that I took of my daughter, Anne, way back in 2015.  I LOVE the new TISSUE BACKGROUNDS releases and used the Newsprint, Starbursts, and Cloud/raindrops in my background.  I added pieces from Shana Bebeklis’ FULL DECK pack:  the Heavy Cardstock background, the butterflies, and the newsprint printed on dictionary paper.  In addition, the Wall Background is from the DOORS & WINDOWS CARDSTACK;  and the strips of Rippable Paper are from Lisa Oxley’s FLORAL FETISH pack.  I made up my own title for this page.

Many of my elements, the photo, the background images, the strips for the title & background, and ephemera are in rectangle or square form making it fit into this month's Art Journal Journey "Geometric Forms" challenge.

I enjoyed making this project using Artstacks products and hope that I have inspired you to create one, too!

I am also linking my project up to Art Journal Journey Monthly's theme for April:

This month is hosted by Valerie at Baastelmania.  Her April theme is Geometric Forms. Valerie says "this theme covers anything using one or more of these forms in your art work - circles, squares, triangles, lines, etc. I love them and I hope this challenge will renew your acquaintance with these forms."

As I mentioned above, I used rectangles and squares on my page, using photos, embellishments, strips, and ephemera which are in square/rectangular forms!

I hope you get a chance to check out the entries from the talented artists that take part in this challenge every month.

And again, I want to thank Valerie and Art Journal Journey for creating this amazing challenge.

And thank YOU, so much, for stopping by my blog today.  Happy Crafting!  Enjoy April.

Captured . . . for Challenge YOUrself and Art Journal Journey Monthly!

Hi everyone.  It's April 7th - can you believe it?!

It's time for a new challenge at Challenge YOUrself!

Challenge YOUrself #124 opened today:

This month's challenge is What's your favorite animal?  You can interpret the theme any way you like, for instance, you can use a photo of you with your favorite animal, use background paper depicting your favorite animal, use images of your favorite animal, etc!  Just remember to include a photo with YOU in the frame!

Here is the mixed media scrapbook page that I created for the challenge:

I used photos of me with our dog, Abbey, taken on Mother's Day two years ago.  Of course my favorite animal is Abbey!!  She is the light of my life and is always by my side.  The paper and embellishments are all from Vicki Boutin's Print Shop collection.  I love how her matts, embellies, and ephemera are in rectangular form, making this perfect for Valerie's theme at Art Journal Journey this month.

I hope you get a chance to check out  Challenge YOUrself!

I am also linking my page to Art Journal Journey Monthly's theme for April:

Friends . . . for ArtStacks!

Hi everyone! I am up on the  ArtStacksblog today!

I created a mixed media canvas using Shana Bebeklis’ Full Deck pack:

their Wings and Things pack:

and their Tissue Backgrounds pack:

I decided to make a canvas this month, because I want something to display on a wall in my craft room:

I started by watercoloring and stamping my canvas.  I used the tic-tac-toe background from the TISSUE BACKGROUNDS pack for part of the background. Next, I adhered the gorgeous flower image from Shana Bebelkis’  FULL DECK pack. I framed this stunning image with a wooden frame (that I embossed in white) from my stash.  If you look closely, you can see that I popped some of the flowers, too.  Next, I added a sentiment about friends (taken from the WINGS AND THINGS pack) to the bottom of the frame.  I continued to embellish my frame with leaves, hearts and a flower, all from the FULL DECK pack.  Please note, the leaves are hand-drawn images(by Shana) printed on mixed media paper that I colored myself using water-color markers.  Finally, I adhered  the hearts, mushrooms, a butterfly, and sentiments; all from the same FULL DECK pack, to complete my mixed media project.

You can head over to ArtStacks to see all of their beautiful papers in detail:  www.artstacks.com.au/shop

I enjoyed making this project using Artstacks products and hope that I inspired you to create one, too!

Create . . . for Challenge YOUrself and Art Journal Journey Monthly!

Hi everyone.

It's time for a new challenge at Challenge YOUrself!

Challenge YOUrself #123 opened today:

This month's challenge asks you to use this beauitful color palette as the basis for your project.  Just remember to include a photo with YOU!!

Here is the mixed media scrapbook page that I created for this challenge:

The background paper is from Vicki Boutin's Color Study collection which I thought was perfect for this color palette challenge.  Most of the papers, ephemera,  and embellishments are from this collection.

The photo is of my daughter, Katie, and me at an art class that we took back in 2021:

The newspaper print background from ArtStacks' Tissue Backgrounds pack:

and the little panda is from Tamara Laporte's Artsy Animals pack.  I used the digital version and added a paintbrush for the adorable panda to hold!

Head over to www.artstacks.com.au/shop for all of the details about these packs.

And please check out Challenge YOUrself #123 on
Facebook and their blog.  Don't forget,  you have a random chance to win a 12 x 12 scrapbooking kit every month.

I hope I have inspired you to play along with us at  Challenge YOUrself !

I am also linking my project up to Art Journal Journey Monthly's March challenge.

This month is hosted by Chris from pearshapedcrafting.  Her theme is "ON ALL FOURS."  Chris says "I would love to see any animals with four legs featured in your pages - from a small mouse to a huge elephant!"

As you can see, there is an adorable panda holding a paintbrush featured along-side the photo on my scrapbook page.

Thank you, Chris and Art Journal Journey for your inspiration this month.  I always love taking part in the AJJ Monthly challenges.

And thank YOU, so much, for stopping by my blog today.  Have a wonderful March.

Woof. For ArtStacks and Art Journal Journey Monthly!

Hi everyone!  Today I'm sharing a project that I made for the ArtStacks Artist Team.

I created a mixed media scrapbook page using their brand new release "Tissue Backgrounds" pack:

FYI:  each pack contains backgrounds designed for use in all forms of papercrafting and are printed on ArtStacks' amazing tissue. And, if you like to print at home, a digital version of this pack and a "Blank Tissue" pack are available!  Head over to www.artstacks.com/au for all of the details!

Here is my page:

I started by using a piece of 8.5" x 11" watercolor paper. I found a photo of our sweet dog, Abbey, that I knew I wanted to use on this page.  (Abbey is the LIGHT of my life!!!)   I painted my background with the word LIGHT in mind and added touches of yellow to my page. I allowed it to dry then added some texture using distress paste and a stencil that I had in my stash.  Next I added the grid, butterflies, and tic-tac-toe tissue paper from ArtStacks new "Tissue Backgrounds" pack. I love Deb Weiers "Wonky Critters" pack and used the word "Woof" and her dog sketch on my page.  Next, I added some black paint splats and squiggles. Finally, I adhered the phrase "Attitude is Everything" which is from Shana Bebeklis' "Full Deck" pack.  (Also, the word "Curious" is from ArtStacks "Faces and Figures" Corestack.)

I enjoyed making this project using Artstacks products and hope that I inspired you to create one, too!

I am also linking my project up to Art Journal Journey Monthly's February challenge:

This month's theme is hosted by Vicki Parson from stampedsmile.com  Here theme is "LIGHT."  Vicki says "Light can have so many different meanings and so many different ways to interpret it.  For example:
sun, moon, stars, candle, lantern, bulb, illuminate
colors(subtle or subdued tones or shades)
an idea(shedding some light on a subject)
interpretations (light as a feather, light snowflakes, let your heart be light, let your light shine, etc)"

As you can see, I made by page about of pet dog, Abbey!  She is the LIGHT of my life, and my husband's and daughter's lives, too!

Thank you, Vicki and Art Journal Journey for your inspiration this month.

And thank YOU, so much, for stopping by my blog today.  Happy Crafting!
